In the fall of 2008, a young couple who shared a love for each other and for food, came together to form an ice cream company in their head. “Bo & Jo’s Ice Cream” was to be inspired by their Cuban roots and make Cuban inspired ice cream flavors for our local community. Mike & Elena started to work on their dream and created a few flavors with varying degrees of success. Their first creation was a guava and cream cheese flavor, inspired by childhood snacks. It exists today as Sweet Melody’s “Bo & Jo’s Guava Cream Cheese”. Sadly, Elena became ill and passed away in the summer of 2009. A broken heart and a desire to move on led to the end of that company.
Fast forward to January of 2016:
I’m a single dad to a 3 year old daughter, Melody Jade, and working in catering. I started dabbling in making ice cream again and within a couple of weeks, almost as if by some magical force, I was obsessed with ice cream and dug my head into becoming the best I could possibly be at my craft. I decided to only use the best ingredients at my disposal and put all my love into it. I decided to name it after the great love of my life…and Sweet Melody Crafted Ice Cream Co. was born!

Within 2 months of the company’s founding, our product caught the eye of Misha Kuryla, the founder and president of the incredibly successful Misha’s Cupcakes, who decided to sell our product at her flagship store. In addition, within those first 2 months of being a company, we already had our product in 2 high profile restaurants in Coral Gables.

Direct sales and catering soon followed. Word spread and since our inception, we have maintained a 5 star rating on Yelp.

Our company has been written about 9 times in the press in our short history, including 4 times in the Miami New Times, and even mentioned in the Miami Herald.
